Mizzou Tiger- Heisman Finalist

Chase Daniel- Missouri Tigers
2007 Heisman Trophy Finalist

It was just announced today that Missouri Tigers quarterback Chase Daniel will among the finalists for the Heisman Trophy award!  Wow!  That's fantastic!  Other finalists will probably be Tim Tebow of Florida and Darren McFadden of Arkansas.

Missouri has never had a Heisman trophy winner.   Paul Christman, twice an All-American Missouri quarterback, finished third in the Heisman voting in 1939.

Mu's Daniel and Arkansas McFadden will both play in the Cotton Bowl on Jan 1, as the Tigers square off against the Razorbacks.

Daniel lead MU to an 11-2 record, only loosing to Oklahoma (twice), with a Big 12 North Title, completing 372 of 534 passes for 4,170 yards and 33 touchdown and only 10 interceptions.

Kansas City Royals Spending

Jose Guillen- Kansas City Royal

The KC Royals just picked up Jose Guillen from the Seattle Mariners, for a 3 year contract of $36 million! It isn't the largest in Royals history, but is is a record for the highest average salary per season at $12 million for 2008-2010.  Other high paid Royals below Guillen are:

Gil Meche, pitcher for $11 million, 2007-2011
Mike Sweeney, first baseman for $11 million, 2003-2007
Carlos Beltran, center fielder, for $9 million, 2004
Mike Sweeney, first basman for $8 million, 2002

Gil had a great year in 2007.  Mike Sweeney has been hampered with injuries the past few seasons.  The Royals lost Beltran to the higher paying teams.  Good luck Jose with your big bat at Kauffman Stadium to drive in Royals runners in 2008.
