The Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks football games have been called the Border War. These two teams are college football's most played rivalry games, only trailing Wisconsin and Minnesota by one game. On Nov. 29, 2008, it was the 117th time KU and MU squared off in football against each other.
The first football game of MU and KU was in 1891, with KU winning 22-10. MU won for the first time against KU in 1893, by the score 12-4.
The MU and KU rivalry is the oldest football rivalry WEST of the MISSISSIPPI River. None got started before this one in 1891!
The teams were the first regular neutral-site rivalry, with 19 of the first 20 games played in KANSAS CITY!
The MU and KU rivalry is the only one with orgins back to the CIVIL WAR!
