HOMECOMING
Several schools claim Homecoming as their invention. The University of Missouri claim is the most widely accepted. By 1911, Missouri and Kansas had played 20 times, 19 in Kansas City and once in St. Joseph. The rivalry would now go to campus, starting with Missouri. Tigers coach Chester Brewer asked the alumni to "come home" for the occasion, complete with parade and bonfire. The first Homecoming, in 1911, had the game end in a 3-3 tie, in front of a crowd of 9,000 at Rollins Field. MU and KU have been each others most common Homecoming opponent.
