Carl Peterson
1989 - 2008
With the announcement of Carl Peterson leaving the Kansas City Chiefs, I'm reflecting back on those years Carl has been the GM of the Chiefs. I remember when the Chiefs really struggled as a team back in the 1980's (at the same the KC Royals were winning in their Glory Days)....and when Carl Peterson came to town, he turned around the miserable Chiefs into winners for many years.....but those days are gone and now so is Carl.
The Chiefs were 102-58 under Carl Peterson in the 1990's becoming one of seven NFL franchises to win 100 games in a decade. The Chiefs lead the league in attendance in 1994, 95, 96, 97, 98, and 1999. The Chiefs record under Carl Peterson from 1989 to 2008 was 176-141-1 overall and 3-9 in the playoffs with two games left in the 2008 season. Head Coaches under King Carl: Marty Schottenheimer, Gunther Cunningham, Dick Vermeil and Herm Edwards.
Carl, thanks for the good years with the Chiefs and bringing the Chiefs back in the 90's. I look forward to the Chiefs getting a good GM and getting back to the winning tradition at Arrowhead Stadium!
